What is it about?

We found three common scoring systems (MEWS, NEWS, and qSOFA score) were systems were limited by low specificity (MEWS and NEWS) or low sensitivity (qSOFA score) for early sepsis diagnosis in older adults. Biomarkers were important to improve the diagnostic performance of the scoring systems for sepsis detection in older adults. Our constructed model including MEWS, WBC, NLR, and MDW could be an easy to use and timely instrument to detect sepsis in older adults.
