What is it about?
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is a colorless biological fluid that permeates the entire central nervous system. The analysis of the CSF protein content is an important screening test for various pathologies. In this study, we demonstrate that the CSF protein content increases with age in men and in women with a constant gap between the two sexes. Our results highlight the need to apply sex- and age-adjusted threshold values for this laboratory parameter.
