What is it about?

Kidney transplant (KTx) recipients often have deficient/insufficient levels of vitamin D. We showed that weekly administration of native vitamin D (cholecalciferol) for 12 months reduced parathyroid hormone and increased 25(OH) vitamin D levels in stable KTx patients with CKD stage 1-3, without adverse effects on serum calcium or renal function.
