Total nitrogen in 24-hour (hr) urine samples is the most well-known biomarker of the validity of dietary assessments. Currently, total nitrogen is measured in 24-hr urine samples. This study concludes that total nitrogen in 24-hr urine samples can be calculated, as an alternative to the labour-intensive Kjeldahl method.
