What is it about?
PhotoPlethysmoGraphy(PPG) waveform is rich in Cardiovascular information.we have jusified that this delineator is capable of characterising the PPG waveforms efficiently. This paper can be used further to examine cardiovascular diseases like Arterial Stiffness,Heart Rate variability with the points of interest identified.

Why is it important?
The second derivative of the PPG (SDPPG) signal allows easier interpretation of the original waveform. In various papers, an association between cardiovascular risk factors and the SDPPG normalised amplitudes (a, b and e) was analysed statistically.Although the clinical implication of SDPPG measurement has been discussed in detail, there is still a requirement for studies focusing on the automatic detection of the waves (a, b and e) in SDPPG signals to relate cardiovascular health. This paper adaptively identify the points of interest. The algorithm was tested on a large-scale openly accessible database from PhysioNet http://www.physionet.org) with different morphologies such as signals exhibiting various pathophysiological complexities such as regular and irregular heart rhythms, low and varying amplitudes and found to be robust.
Perspectives
I hope this article might give an insight to PPG waveforms to assess cardiovascular health where it is normally done using ElectroCardio Graph(ECG).I hope you find this article thought provoking as it would lead to an extension of research with PPG waveforms and its applications in essential situations like Ambulatory services.
