This paper is about using solutions to the wave equation to define bounded linear operators.

Why is it important?
The paper develops an abstract theory of functions of operators in a form that makes use of classical integral transforms of functions.
Perspectives
The hope is that users will be able to apply standard formulas from tables on integral transforms into applied problesm which need functional calculus results. This was motivated by our reading of Sneddon's book The use of Integral Transforms.
