What is it about?

Modeling of the behavior of district heating networks is necessary for proper optimization of their operation. The paper presents different approaches to creation of linear models of the networks. A case study shows the results of modeling with different approaches.

Why is it important?

This article has been created as part of wider research in the field of Smart District Heating / operational optimization of district heating systems with the use of thermal energy storage. It covers the important topic of modeling the temperature changes in the network, which is necessary for including thermal energy storage into optimization of DH systems' operation. The paper shows, how choosing the approach to modeling the district heating network affects the results of simulation of temperature changes in the pipelines.

Perspectives

This article has been written as part of a PhD programme, dedicated to operational optimization of district heating systems.
