Lung Cancer Screening in a Safety-Net Hospital: Implications of Screening a Real-World Population versus the National Lung Screening Trial

What is it about?

Lung cancer screening with yearly CT scans in high risk smokers has been shown to reduce mortality. We show patients being screened in the real world have significantly more comorbidities than those screened in the initial lung cancer screening study, raising question as to how the risks and benefits of screening will be realized with screening real-world patients.
