What is it about?
Looking at strategic planning documents and government's strategic visioning dossier, the authors looks for policies linking tourism, environment and sustainability in Kenya. The main focus was to identify existing gaps in policy formulation and planning that show a lack of understanding or ignorance of the concept sustainable tourism and the role of tourism in sustainable development in the country.

Why is it important?
Identifying the exiting gaps in tourism-environment policy will inform policy makers and tourism planners in future policy formulation and revision efforts to help Kenya keep pace with other states and regions implementing sustainable policy agendas.
Perspectives
This study was the first of its kind in Kenya and will be important in informing future efforts in sustainable tourism policy formulation and development. The study also adds value into sustainable tourism literature in Kenya.
