What is it about?

Organisations that are affected by supply chain risks will – if no risk-adjusting measures are available – experience more supply malfunctions or other adverse consequences. The paper at hand paper delivers a systematic review of the existing literature, featuring in-depth analysis and cognition on the ever-expanding supply chain risk management (SCRM) topic. The findings reveal that there is a lack of empirical evidence for the relational linkage between SCRM and performance. However, ‘top’ 24 antecedents for effective SCRM and various SCRM risk sources classified into supply-side, demand-side, external, and internal risks have been identified.

Why is it important?

The results of these useful insights allow for an identification of gaps to foster further investigations that will offer an advanced understanding of SCRM and its effect on performance. Hence, we contribute to the SCRM research stream by synthesising the highly fragmented and inconsistent literature that currently exists.
