What is it about?

Books were rarely nót annotated in the world of the manuscript. In this volume, 26 contributions consider different aspects of practices of reading and writing revealed through an analysis of such annotations. Specific practices are discussed, from full commentaries to single letters or symbols, but also individual scholars for whom a profile of their annotating activity can be established, or general portraits of certain texts and their annotators.
