What is it about?
The purpose of this correlational study was to investigate the relationship between peer variables (peer acceptance, peer support and peer loyalty) on young adolescents’ academic identification. To understand how students sustain their motivation and academic engagement, one has to understand academic identity dynamics. This study throws light on how adolescent students' academic identity is shaped by peer interactions.

Why is it important?
The adolescent period is a vital stage in an individual's life. This stage is synonymous with various needs that are both psychogenic and basic. The need to feel that sense of belonging has both negative and positive influence. This study found that peer behaviour plays a role in adolescent learners' academic orientation.
Perspectives
I find this study illuminating as it sheds light on how peer culture influences academic outcomes.
