What is it about?
In study of Indonesian Islam, I was not only observer, also participant. In 1970/1 as a student in a pesantren, a boarding school. Between 1981 and 1988 I taught at the State Academy of Islamic Studies in Jakarta and Yogyakarta. This autobiographical notes describe events as unexpected inter/religious encounters.

As an observer of Muslim in indonesia I always spoke about my Catholic background, but liked to join prayers in mosques, join religious debates as if religious affiliation can be double. It is never exclusive.
