What is it about?

Urban gardening have become important components of many cities. Collectively growing vegetables often is understood as an act of rebellion in terms of urban development from below. At the same time, "urban gardening" is increasingly represented in urban development plans and city branding. The contributors to this volume provide critical analyses of green urban activities and their contested as well as contradictory role in processes of neoliberalization of the urban.
