Synthetic biology as art practice

What is it about?

Synthetic biology, the study of biology as a programmable technology, makes many promises for the future of humanity. Wishful Thinking describes an ongoing art project that raises questions about the environmental impact of synthetic biology. The author develops a method for storing information (the question, ‘what will happen if I store this thought safe within you?’) within DNA and then placing this within living bacteria.
