These two screen legends have had incredible success in cinema. Yet as each aged, one (Marlon Brando) saw his private life and film success descend rapidly. On the other hand, Tamil cinema superstar, Rajinikanth, has continued with great n-screen success into his 60s, despite some controversies in his private life.

Why is it important?
Both Brando and Rajinikanth were great box-office drawcards. Brando's inability to remain in the top group of Hollywood actors shows that a film cannot rely solely on the past work and reputation of its lead actors.
