Why is it important?
The outcomes of this research in Portugal suggest an excessive use of the car for the transport of children to school and extracurricular activities, and that parents, in particular mothers, dedicate pretty much of their time to this transport. These data underline the urgency of changes in the cityscape as well as of the promotion of low-energy means of transport .
Perspectives
In addition to the largely political aims of the organization of the urban environment and the energy tradition, it is shown that children are conceded quite less autonomy than those in previous generations.
