What is it about?

This is an editorial for a special issue about the TV format trade, which explores the complex relationship between TV formats and globalization. The edited collection brings perspectives from the Middle East, Africa, Asia and China, Latin America, North America and Europe. The editorial raises the following question: does the format trade represent an opportunity for the creative economy in emerging markets?
