What is it about?

Offering a brief history of the diagonal, this essay relates the impact of photography on painting to current anxiety about AI. Perspectives

I see it as an example of old school thinking on a subject which has a brilliant past and an uncertain future. It is hard to say if any younger practitioners can exploit the possibilities of painting but that's what needed if it is to continue. I find that matters to me.
