What is it about?
There's an assumption that once you go to university, or especially if you go on to become an academic, that this is your ‘ticket out of the working-classes’. But class is at the very core of our being and often doesn't change just because you have a professional job. This article examines the key factors that makes someone a working class academic. .

Why is it important?
This is an important article as we can not understand the impact of social class when we ignore the experiences of working class people in professional jobs.
Perspectives
I am a working class academic and I have spoken to 90 other people about this topic. With this article I want to highlight that it can be difficult being an academic if you are working-class.
