What is it about?

Why is it important?
With the increasing number of public apologies, it's important for everyone, not just politicians and celebrities, to know what is important in an apology.
Perspectives
I wrote this paper in the midst of a slew of apologies from celebrities, CEOs, and politicians. There were apologies for everything from dog-fighting and sexts to cultural genocide. All the successful apologies had a spoken component.
