What is it about?
Madchester was a seminal period in British youth culture where there was a shift away from traditional notions of subcultures towards something more fluid. Using interviews and contemportary photographs, the article looks at this time, with a focus on how clothes affect how we move and how we effect clothes when moving (eg walking, dancing, posturing).

Why is it important?
The article focuses on menswear during the Madchester movement, an often overlooked aspect of cultural and fashion debate. The term ‘fashion in motion’ has been established in this research to define the interaction of garment and wearer in movement and its visual result. The article also contributes the term 'movement' to define define the less tangible, more fluid, shifting and dynamic culture in the ongoing debate of post-subculture.
