Why is it important?

Numbers of displaced persons have increased exponentially in recent years. This research focuses on the gendered, psychological, and economic impacts of forced migration and the role technology plays as vulnerable populations navigate precarious circumstances.

Perspectives

This case study focuses on groups of immigrant and refugee women in Houston, Texas and how they use technology to build community in resettlement while maintaining relationships with family in diaspora.
