What is it about?

DAWs are capable of more than merely the recording of music. They can be used to design a musical process which becomes the piece of music. The inclusion of ideas of interaction allow for more variety in the design and production process.

Why is it important?

This article highlights a possible design layout which challenges the producer, educator and student to think beyond the usual structures. The design process allows for more unique forms of expression to be derived from production than making a conventional song.

Perspectives

Writing this article enabled me to foreground some of my music and p[production experiences. Thinking beyond what a DAW is for, assists producers to create work that challenges and expands the making context. More than anything else, and if nothing else, I hope you find this article thought-provoking.
