What is it about?
In this article, I explore the notion of 'the ideal' narrative as relates to fashion and why it is important to work outside of this narrative in order to decolonize. I explore this topic primarily through Yoruba storytelling, my fashion academic journey and garment construction.

Why is it important?
This article is important because it aims to call our 'ways of seeing' and our practices into question. It also reflects on what has happened and what is happening around us, which I think is crucial to decolonial work.
