What is it about?
This article presents an interdisciplinary approach to researching subcultural style and music scene involvement. To communicate individual and collective subcultural traditions of style, this article explores a single case study situated within my larger research setting: Los Angeles's vintage ska & reggae scene.

Why is it important?
This article is important because it contributes to subcultural studies and fashion studies by presenting a novel approach to researching subcultural style. Additionally, it adds to scholarship on cross-cultural music revivals and vintage style-fashion-dress.
Perspectives
The conceptual approach presented in this article informs my larger research project on style, authenticity, and nostalgia in Los Angeles's ska and reggae revival scene.
