What is it about?

Acromegaly, a disease caused by overproduction of Growth Hormone has metabolic effects on many tissues. In this paper we looked at how adipose tissue is different between acromegalic patients and controls.

Why is it important?

Understanding how growth hormone regulates adipose function, and identifying the relationships between growth hormone, lipolysis and insulin resistance are very important for alleviating ill health in acromegaly patients, but also for a fundamental understanding of how growth hormone regulates metabolism.
