What is it about?

Influenza is a common viral pathogen with costly impacts for both humans and livestock. To better understand the immune response to influenza, we have produced a single-cell resolution map of genes expressed by immune cells during influenza infection and different vaccination strategies. Using this gene map we have identified long lasting and varied effects to infection versus vaccination, whilst also providing an extensive resource for further investigation of the immune response to influenza.

Why is it important?

Improving our understanding of the immune response to influenza provides insights that can inform better vaccine design to achieve long-lasting protective immune responses. Furthermore, by making our data freely available we hope it will serve as a resource for further scientific advancement.
