Why is it important?
Climate change increases stress on the conditions for ensuring food security around the planet and especially in pockets of high population density, poverty, and climate vulnerability. Hence, policy-makers should be equipped with the figures necessary at a small area level to address this key issue.
Perspectives
A future assessment of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on food security may benefit from our pre-pandemic perspective on a key geographical region that has a population much bigger than the United States.
