What is it about?

the role of adult Drosophila behavior in changing variable natural environments. Recognition of conspecifics and individuals belonging to different species. Response to illumination conditions and conspecific and other species odors in the nature.

Why is it important?

Surprisingly, adult and larval behavior of Drosophila in the nature is almost unknown. Our publications in Plos One concern with those goals reveling new aspects on the role of adult Drosophila behavior to adaptation to variable, changing natural environments.

Perspectives

our contribution draws attention to little-understood aspects of the life of Drosophila species in the wild. For example, the search for and occupation of shady environments with temperatures around 24 ºC and humidity close to 80%. Our findings reveal that Drosophia adults, and larvae, are not machines related only to reproduction and food ingestion.
