Why is it important?

The study provides a clear understanding of the economic challenges communities along the US-Border face with the number of refugees and asylum seekers entering the United States. The study also provides a view on the medical needs of refugees and asylum seekers.

Perspectives

This publication is important since it adds a dollar value to the work voluntary clinicians offer to refugees and asylum seekers. This study should serve as basis for the development of appropriate policies needed to support communities along the US-Mexico Border such as El Paso, Texas.
