What is it about?

Suppressing the elevation in core body temperature is an important factor in preventing heatstroke. However, there is still no non-invasive method to sense core body temperature. We proposed an algorithm that estimates core body temperature change using electrocardiogram signals.

Why is it important?

Heatstroke has become more prevalent in recent years, thus constituting a social problem. As severe cases of heatstroke can be life-threatening, adequate occupational health management (e.g., water supplementation, rest, and health education) have proactively been implemented in a variety of contexts. However, deaths due to heatstroke continue to occur. Our proposed estimation model can estimate changes in deep body temperature using only ECG signals, regardless of individual characteristics such as age and physique. Our model will help prevent heatstroke with the development of wearable devices.
