What is it about?

This paper details a protocol to establish consensus in the context of Australian general practice. The Delphi consensus study includes ‘experts’ in Australian PHNs and general practice to explore the relevance and feasibility of a suite of indicators and measures developed.

Why is it important?

We define the processes and rules for determining the level of agreement on relevance and feasibility for each of the measures developed. This is important to justify the rigour of the evidence for the first comprehensive, evidence-based, professionally endorsed tool for analysing and reporting across all components of high-quality general practice in Australia.

Perspectives

I hope this protocol paper adds to the current knowledge about how best to establish evidence for measuring and promoting high quality in general practice and other disciplines. Findings from such research will support responsible investment policies of governments in primary care quality improvement.
