What is it about?

I am a chief expert of public health professional, researcher and trainer with more than 13 years of experience and expertise in the public health approach to scaling up critical public health interventions, coordination of different health programs and research projects, research capacity, training, and mentorship programs along with different international agencies and organizations. I have conducted several operational researches to guide the delivery of health care services and strengthen public health emergency management (PHEM) in Ethiopia. As a member of the regional knowledge hub and covid-19 regional task force, I have impacted and have scientific recognition in different internationally recognized reputable journals. Moreover, I have extensive expertise in: program designs, planning, coordinating PHEM including Public Health Emergency Operation Center; health and nutrition programs and project coordination; WASH program implementation activities and support; developing M&E tools, data analysis and developing technical presentations. I also have extensive experience in setting up technical support and strengthening & designing capacity building programs in incident management systems and structures, proposal and grant writing etc. I have excellent track performance and interest in the incidence management and outbreak investigation for epidemics and PHEM management and response of contagious diseases in the Ethiopian and African health care system. I have a passion for strengthening and developing health programs. Above all, I am passionate to work with multiple partners and engagements to explore new insights into implementing proper program management in a resource limited setting.

Why is it important?

When pandemic/ epidemic happens every where, the health health system primarily concerns directly on the impact of the pandemic/ epidemic. However, the the indirect impacts of the pandemics/ epidemics didn't get more attention. Therefore, this research is concerned to focus the eyes on the indirect impacts of the pandemics/ epidemics in every health care systems.

Perspectives

It was my great pleasure writing this article in collaboration with different researchers across different institutions. This article attracted health program managers to pay more attention to the indirect effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on essential health services.
