What is it about?

A novel approach in search for plant genes involved in arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis. Using a physiological treatment, we have pointed out some candidate genes involved in carbon transfer to fungal symbiont. Some genes were not mentioned previously with AMS.

Why is it important?

The carbon pathway from the plant to the fungus is not elucidated yet. Several compounds may be transported and also several genes may be involved in the transport. Some genes are exclusively expressed upon AMS, but some play a general role even in non-mycorrhizal plant - such genes were hopefully found in our study.

Perspectives

Any wet lab studiing molecular mechanisms of arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis may benefit from the research. These genes should be involved in the AMS thus providing favourite genes for further research e.g. with mutants in such genes.
