What is it about?
Infrared filters have been developed to aid high-resolution monitoring of stratospheric and mesospheric temperature, trace chemical species, and geopotential height gradients in the Earth’s atmosphere.

Why is it important?
A method of combining the measured spectral characteristics of each filter and antireflection coating, together withthe spectral response of the other optical elements in the instrument, to obtain a predicted system throughput response is presented.
