What is it about?

Water villages are a common form of settlement around the island of Borneo, but also throughout Southeast Asia. Based on a remote sensing survey the number of houses and the total number of persons "living on water" is estimated. With climate change and rising sea water level "living on water" will be an attractive option of settlement,,especially in cities with high land prices.

Why is it important?

Urban planners and administrators should take note of this option of "living on water" to alleviate pressures on urban land. Architects should pick up this challenge and design house seats to enable modern "living on water"
