What is it about?
Refugees, migrants and asylum seekers cannot easily tell their first-person stories of victimization without the mediating role of other actors, e.g. traslators, journalists, NGOs, or supranational organizations. In this article I explore the strategies deployed by UNHCR to garner support for their cause.

Why is it important?
The so-called refugee crisis permeated the media in 2015 across the globe, however it is still as relevant as ever to address inequalities and systemic injustice in how migration and people on the move are treated and depicted.
Perspectives
This article aims at contributing to the field of migration studies, life writing, and human rights, as well as maintaining a consistent line of inquiry on the relation between testimonial practices and emotions.
