What is it about?
While the Germans most famously used the submarine schnorkel during World War II, it was actually the Dutch who developed a successful schnorkel. The Germans discovered the Dutch schnorkel upon their capture of the Netherlands in May 1940, and the German schnorkel was a refinement of the Dutch system.
