What is it about?

This article examines the impact of the 1916 Rising on the GAA and how the Association and its broad membership underwent a process of political radicalization in the three years after the Rising. By 1919 the GAA had become a body which by through its motions and actions was now an ideological opponent of British rule in Ireland.
