What is it about?
"LISTEN: 2018" is one of two movements written for the women of Resonance Ensemble, a professional choir based in Portland, Oregon, and conducted by Katherine FitzGibbon. The text is drawn from testimony given by Christine Blasey Ford in 2018; the other movement sets text from the testimony of Anita Hill from 1991. "LISTEN: 2018" confronts singers and listeners with these women's challenging and powerful words.

Why is it important?
"LISTEN: 2018" confronts singers and listeners with these women's challenging and powerful words. Whether or not the members of the Senate Judiciary Committees were able to truly listen to Blasey Ford and Hill at the time of their testimony, this composition gives an opportunity for catharsis to the many observers whose hearts were broken by these hearings and their wider reception.
