What is it about?

I write poems of political and social relevance. These five are about baseball. I have also written about the January 6 Insurrection (Flowers of Evil), the Holocaust (Children of Auschwitz), race relations (9 minutes, 29 seconds), and Victor Jara (The Blood of Martyrs). My personal poems are about nature and spirituality, and are influenced by Mary Oliver. My political beliefs can be found in the lyrics to a video song I have on YouTube. Just search by my name or the song title (So We Will March). The baseball poems were to be accompanied by the baseball cards which inspired them, but permission was not given to reproduce them. If you would like to see the poems/cards together, just send a request to my email: biskupski@sbcglobal.net. You can also find me on Facebook or a Google search. There were only two Walter Biskupskis in the state of Indiana, and the gentleman from South Bend recently passed away. I am not that one.

Why is it important?

Poetry can have an important effect on the lives of its readers. While internal and confessional poems are powerful, those that deal with political and social events are also necessary.
