What is it about?
It is a case study of organic facies in the South China Sea by GCMS
Featured Image
Why is it important?
A clustering method is used to analyze multiple biomarker parameters to identify several organic facies. It suggests that a source interval is heterogenous, and has different organic facies with distinguished biomaker assemblies.
Perspectives
Rather than marine deposits, heterogeneity of one lacustrine source interval must be ubiquitous. The clustering method for biomarker parameter sets is effective to study organic faices. It could adapt to other lacustrine source rocks. For the marine depostion with terrestrial sources, the clustering result may be more interesting. We endeavor to do or expect more case studies in future.
