What is it about?

The reconstruction of palaeo-temperatures are the basis for a wide range of application in the geosciences. This work assesses the additional use of a reservoir quality modeling software to create and assess better palaeo-thermal reconstructions for the use in hydrocarbon exploration and production.

Why is it important?

The more accurate reconstruction of temperatures on geological timescales (here ~250 million years) allows to better assess the risks associated with the exploration of known and unknown reservoirs for e.g. oil and gas.

Perspectives

A novel workflow to integrate two widely used approaches in the hydrocarbon sector.
