What is it about?
Frozen shoulder affects 1-5% of the population and is very disabling. The main mode of treatment after physiotherapy, is Manipulation Under Anaesthetic, where the shoulder is moved around after the patient has been put to sleep in theatre. This involves no cuts to the skin. In approximately 15% the problem recurs, and there is no evidence to guide the decision as to what to do then. Our study shows that repeating the same procedure is just as effective the 2nd time around as the first.
