Why is it important?

Sending patients home on the day of partial knee replacement surgery is not routinely undertaken, but is preferred by patients as they don't have to spend days in hospital, and preferred by healthcare managers as it saves money.

Perspectives

This has been a really worthwhile project to lead, and demonstrates a great team effort, from theatre staff to the outreach nursing team.

I would recommend that day case uni knee replacement is achievable for most units. It is safe, and results show happy patients & surgeons. There are considerable savings for the heath community.
