Perspectives
This publication is critical not only because it is a very large cohort, but it includes a sitting forward posture Ie the position when one is about to lift off the chair. All previous studies have looked at the pelvis in a sitting erect position when the pelvis almost universally rotates backward. This is protective of the hip when flexed. However we have shown that about half of cases anteriorily rotate when sitting forward and in these cases the hip at risk of posterior dislocation or edge loading.
