What is it about?
Displaced intracapsular fractures of the proximal femur in the elderly population are a worldwide health care problem. To observe the long term results of hip fracture surgery in elderly patients we analysed the long term functional outcome after hemiarthroplasty and total hip replacement for an intracapsular femoral neck fracture in active patients aged over 70 years old, without having advanced osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.
