Why is it important?
One of the most significant developments in nursing practice in the last few years occurred in 2018, with the development of a new service for palliative care. This service, which involved one member of a multidisciplinary team receiving significant training and education, has led to the creation of the first non-medical prescriber (NMP) in Palestine (from a nursing background). This is a significant change in practice for Palestinian nurses and, most importantly, for cancer patients in Palestine, who can now receive advanced practice from a cancer nurse to ensure they receive timely medication for alleviation of symptoms
Perspectives
This publication is an indicator that nurses in Palestine and in many countries can develop and lead for a positive change which can impact the health care services to provides a higher quality of care for patient's and their families.
