What is it about?

This paper brings together the elements of how the assessment of capacity for an unwell patient can be impaired, what steps to take in order to bring about the best result for a patient and describes circumstances that can arise between healthcare professionals when their is a disagreement on how to proceed with clinical treatment. The case itself explores recommendations for clinicians in the events of disagreements and interesting case specific factors to consider when thinking about capacity assessments that can apply to many hospital patients.
